The government has set a deadline of three months to conclude the investigation into the Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad that claimed over 250 lives on Thursday.
“Within three months we will try to bring the investigation to a conclusion. All theories around this crash will be analysed,” Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu said during a press conference in New Delhi on Saturday.
The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau is currently investigating the technical side of the incident, he said.
The government has also constituted a high-level committee that will have one representative from the Gujarat government, the Police Commissioner of Ahmedabad, the Director General of the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security, the DG of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), a Special Director from the Intelligence Bureau and Directorate of Forensic Services.
The committee will be chaired by the Union Home Secretary.
“The entire accident area has been cordoned off. The investigation is going smoothly. A high-level committee has been set up under the home secretary. The committee will look at reasons for the accident and strengthen aviation safety going ahead,” the Civil Aviation Secretary said at the press briefing.
